Book of Questions #83…

On October 06, 2008 in Book of Questions

No need to sigh, I am right there along with you, it’s Monday………sigh. lol! It’s another gray day here today in NYC. Doesn’t look like it’s going to rain but it does look like the clouds are here to stay for a while. That’s okay, there’s a nice glow in the sky and it’s not too chilly so it should make for a nice day.

Don’t know what awaits today at work but I hope it’s a calm day. Not in the mood for crazy busy today. Somedays you just want to go and conquer the world and then others, like today, I feel more like enjoying the conquered land :) Today would be a hammock and lemonade day if I had my way. We’ll see, maybe I can still make the lemonade happen!

So here we are, at another book of questions:
————————————————————
What would you change about your physical appearance if you could?(nothing is not an option)
————————————————————
My answer:
I think for me, I would change my height. My dad was pretty tall but my grandfather wasn’t and I think I got his height, thanks granpa! lol! Just kidding. Yeah, i think I would ask for a couple of more inches on my height. I am 5′8″ now, maybe 5′11″ or even 6′ would be sweet. It’s always a fun question to ask and one that people enjoy answering. I’m not even going to get into how we need to accept ourselves the way we are and all that because I think we all know that already, it’s just meant to be a fun question and nothing else so please don’t take it too seriously :)

Have a beautiful day everyone and I’ll see ya tonight
much love

Book of Questions #81…

On September 22, 2008 in Book of Questions

Monday, I know :(  Just kidding. C’mon, we could make this the Monday to break all stereotypes of Mondays! Who’s with me?…….Ok, maybe we;ll give it a go next Monday. lol! I hope at least the week has started peacefully with no major glitches or issues. We’ll save the glitches for Thursday once we’re closer to the weekend.

So here we are once again at a Book of Questions. I can’t believe it’s already #81! It’s almost been a year and a half since the first question I posted on Myspace. I am so happy that my instict was right in knowing that there are so many people that want to share their experiences and wisdom of their own lives with other people. Remember that you never know whose life you’re going to touch when they read your answer. SO here we go, #81….
————————————————————————
What’s your favorite Web site?
————————————————————————
My answer:
I thought this would be a good question since we all meet here everyday in the cyber world and it would be nice to see what everyone’s favorite website is. For me, I would have to say youtube.com. I was never good at having asll my music nice and organized or setting up playlists since everyday I want to listen to something different so youtube has become my little daily jukebox and I love it. My friend adn I that work together, we setup playlists throughout the day and each of us get a few songs of our choosing. The funny thing is that I used to surf the web a lot but in the last few years it’s really boiled down to being on Myspace, this blogging software, youtube and gmail. That’s about it. Go in, take care of business and listen to some tunes, not a bad day at all :)

What about you, what’s your favorite site?
hope you have a gorgeous day my friends and I will see you tonight
much love

Book of Questions #80…

On September 15, 2008 in Book of Questions

Round goes the wheel, where she stops no one knows and it’s stopping at…………..Monday! Yes, the winner is Monday and another week is upon us :) The sky is as blue as can be here in NYC it’s been quite the windy morning so far. The city got an early start this morning and there is plenty of hustling and bustling going on below my window. In just a few minutes, I too will be joining the hustle and bustle and see what this day has for me.

Hope you had  great weekend and feel refreshed for the week. I know it’s never quite enough rest over the weekend but hey, there’s no surprise there. I personally think we should have a 4/3 week. 4 full work days and 3 days off. You could even make the 4 work days 2 hours longer to compensate for the lost work day and that would even up the 40 hour work week. I don’t know, It’ve always liked that idea but it doesn’t seem to have much appeal with employers. lol! I have heard of some comapnies that have pulled it off but it has yet to become mainstream.

And here we are, this week’s question:
——————————————————————
What do you like best about your life? Least?
——————————————————————
My answer:
I’ll start with what I like least so I can end the question on the happier portion of this question. What I like least about my life is that I am not able to work full-time as a musician yet. Even as I write this, I am in my happiest state. I long for the day that I am able to spend the day completely in Rhen-land, writing, playing, recording, performing, interviewing and so on and so forth. What I like most about my life is the people that surround me on a daily basis. I’ve mentioned it before but for a world plagued with loneliness, I never have that problem. I feel I have invested correctly into the lives of others over the course of my life and I have reaped the sweetest rewards from that imaginable. When things get tough, I can call plenty of friends to cry with, when life blesses me with something extraordinary, there are plenty I can call to celebrate with. This is my favorite part of my life to this day.

What about you?
hope you have an extraordinary day
much love

Book of Questions #78…

On September 01, 2008 in Book of Questions

Labor Day Monday is here and I am feeling good. I am still in my PJ’s and relaxing like the best of ‘em, well maybe not that much, but I am trying! I am off to spend the day with my fam out on Long Island. I think my sis is at the beach with her kids and then we’re meeting up with my folks at their house.

I must admit that I am not very good at this slowing down and taking it easy thing. Don’t get me wrong, I love sucking in life and enjoying the moment, but I need to learn how to enjoy time off and actually slow my mind down as well. It’s no good just slowing down if your mind is still going 100 miles a minute, ya know? There always seems like there’s a million things to take care of and even if there are, it will be fine. I remind myself that 1 year ago I probably also had tons of things to do and even if I missed a few, everything is still fine and I don’t even remember what those things were now. The key is learning how to live a better life each and every day, week, year or even decade but constantly moving forward and using the knowledge and wisdom that we discover to benefit us in leading a better, fuller life. As long as you can see growth, then nothing that you go through or experience will be in vain or for naught.

Okay, that was my little Labor Day thought for today. lol!

This week’s question is a simple but powerful one:
———————————————————————–
When was the last time you admitted that you were wrong to someone?
———————————————————————–
My answer:
The good thing is that when I was younger, I hated hated hated being wrong. I felt like I failed and there was no fixing it. Over the years however, I began realizing that those that took more risks and chances in life seemed to be wrong more often but and this is a big but, yielded the most interesting and the largest rewards in this life. So I began losing the fear of being wrong. The last time I admitted that I was wrong was to a customer to which I had promised his work by a certain time and couldn’t keep the deadline and instead of telling the truth that I had forgotten, I made a million excuses and then I realized that it was a stupid thing to do and told him the truth about forgetting his job. In this case it ended amicable, but other times it doesn’t and it’s okay, not everything needs to end perfectly in this life. There will be mistakes, dumb ones alongside sincere ones, but they’re going to happen regardless and all we need to learn is how to deal with them and not how to act like they never happen.

hope you’re having a relaxing and beautiful day my sweet friends
much love
~adrian

P.S. I need you guys to do me a big favor and test something for me. Pretty please? I have designed along with a friend of mine a pic hosting site like Photobucket and if you use image hosting for MySpace or Facebook or anything like that, can you use my new site Picpump.com and tell me if it works smoothly? Thank you so much, I luv you guys, hope you like it!

Book of Questions #77…

On August 26, 2008 in Book of Questions

Wow, what a morning! It’s been an intense few days and as I sit here, I know that I am slightly different, in a good way, but I can’t ignore that’s there have been many life lessons that have met me head on. The winds blows quite strongly this Tuesday morning here in NYC and the mood is quiet and peaceful. It feels as though the hustle and bustle has not officially started yet.

Last night went really well at the studio and we were able to finish the two new tunes and get them ready for the next step which is to prepare the videos for them. I am extremely happy with the results from the studio sessions and am looking forward to sharing the tracks with you very soon.

So this week’s question, although a day late, is still an important one that I like to ask often, and if you’ve ever sat over coffee with me or just had a summer night’s walk with me you’d know that this is a favorite of mine.

——————————————————
What is the last life lesson that you have learned?
——————————————————
My answer:
For me, this lesson was learned as recently as the past few days. Although as I mentioned before, there have been quite a few realization and lessons lately, I think the one that is strongest in my mind and heart right now is that no matter how hard you try to separate and organize things in your life, life comes at you all at once. I still live this delusion sometimes that one day, there’s going to be a time where everything is nice and neat into it’s own little section. My career, my family life, my social life, my finances, my love life, my emotional balance, my mental balance, my spiritual balance, my confidence, my productivity, my creativity, my favorite weather, free time, and on and on and on and on. And this of course is a small list of the things we hope we all magically align themselves someday. Actually, the lesson for me goes even a little bit deeper than the fact that life comes at you all at once, in fact, true wisdom is not only realizing that reality, but accepting that life IS dealing with all those things and not necessarily the act of putting them in order. I will not incriminate anyone else in my weakness but I will admit that I miss a lot of life trying to make it all nice an tidy and I’m not sure that’s the real goal anyhow. I had a great deep convo with my friend Rich last night and we spoke about not missing life amidst trying to do it just right. Live it out and soak it in and get close to those few that are around you and it should be a pretty good ride. :)

Well, that’s my little lesson for the week. What about you, what has life taught you lately?

have an absolute beautifully full day my friends
much love

Book of Questions #76…

On August 18, 2008 in Book of Questions

There is a perfect blue stretch of sky with not one white blemish to be found anywhere. The day slowly begins outside my window with an ever so slowly pace which is sweet and peaceful. I still remain a bit sore from yesterday’s game but am enjoying the fact that I pushed my body a little bit more than it’s been used to these past few weeks.

August has passed it’s midway point and although I am forcing myself not to think about the soon to be end of this summer, I feel that deep down it can’t be ignored. I’ve promised myself year after year that I would move somewhere where the seasons were more balanced towards higher temperatures more of the time. We’ll see if this is the year for that. I am making a few big life changes come January ‘09 and although I haven’t added moving to a new geographical location to the list, it just might make it there, especially considering that come January, I will freezing my little butt off here in NYC. lol! One day at a time, one day at time.

So without further ado, this week’s question of the week:
——————————————————————
If you could travel for one week to anywhere in the world(all paid of course), but had to leave tonight with only a backpack of clothes and personal items, where would go?
——————————————————————
My answer:
I really like this question because we usually associate traveling with a lot of planning and a lot of luggage so the minimalistic aspect of the question appeals to me. I would choose Australia. First reason is that I hear nothing but good things from people that have been there. Secondly, it seems like a cool place to have a lot of adventures. Thirdly, the people seem like lots of fun and down to earth. And lastly, I have never traveled that far in distance to anywhere before so the adventure of even getting must be quite a journey and I think I would love that.

What about you, where should we buy your ticket for?

have a gorgeous Monday morning, however bizarre that statement sounds. lol!
much adventurous love

Book of Questions #75…

On August 11, 2008 in Book of Questions

Monday Monday Monday! I figured I would make it sound like a monster truck rally to get the day cookin’!
Hope it’s a good morning so far. Although I didn’t sleep the amount of hours I would have liked, I feel energetic and ready to tackle the week. I have Richard Branson’s words on my mind to get the week going. He is the owner or Virgin Airlines and Virgin Records and is quite an interesting character and I read a little book that he wrote about his philosophies regarding business and life and was quite inspirational. So with those thoughts I begin the week and look forward to completing goals and enjoying the process.

Continuing my celebrity curiosity, today’s question is just a silly fun one:
—————————————————–
If you could trade places with a celebrity for a day, who would you choose and why?
—————————————————–
My answer:
Usually your mind goes to your favorite celebrity but I’m trying to think of the person that has the most interesting day. Probably at this point in my life, I would choose a well touring musician just to live the experience of sound checking at Madison Square Garden or something like that. Perhaps Dave Matthews would be a good choice for me. He seems to enjoy playing live and has a good band to back him up, not a bad combo if you as me.

What about you, who’s day would you like to experience and why?

have a beautiful morning my friends and I’ll see you tonight/
much love
~adrian

ps. Speaking of celebrities, if you have any interesting anecdotes in regards to having met any celebrities and pics to go along with the story, write me and tell me about it at: rhenmusic@gmail.com as I am looking to feature writers for another project that I have started.

Book of Questions #74…

On July 28, 2008 in Book of Questions

You know what? I am absolutely fine with the fact that it is Monday today. Yes, it’s the beginning of the work week, yes, the weekend is as far away as can be but say in the simplest of terms possible, ‘I am alive today!’ and that is reason enough to be okay. The older I get the more I realize that hoping that every single thing in my life being aligned juuuuusst right is not only fiction but also not what life is really about. Life is spent trying to find balance between all these different things and that is exactly what life ‘is.’ I spend so much energy(I speak in the “I” to not incriminate anyone else!) trying to reach that “perfect” day where it all works perfect and I’m not so sure that is the ultimate goal anyhow. Life is your challenges, life is my work, life is my disappointments, life is laughing with my sister, my friends, my dad who is sick and enjoying each moment with him, life is trying to realize your dreams even when they seem impossible, life is trusting people even though the world tells you not to, life is deciding to enjoy the hand you got in life instead of wishing it was 4 aces, life is sharing your life story so that others may learn from it and apply some of that wisdom to their life, life is enjoying the line for the roller coaster and not just the ride.

With all it’s ups and downs, I can confidently say that I love to be alive, I love to have fun, see the world with a little bit of the wonder that children see it with and enjoy it with those that think the same. You will always, and I do mean always find those that think life is hard, trying and painful and there’s no arguing that fact, it IS all those things but it is also a lot of other things that will pass us by if we don’t choose to look. Whether we like it or not is not the issue, our time here is limited and how we choose to spend it and look at it is our choice and no one else’s. I am not trying to sound inspirational or grand, I write this completely as a journal entry to myself to remind myself that life is worth the effort to do what’s right, reach for what you have inside your heart and work towards deep and meaningful relationships with those around you.

It’s funny because I don’t even know what to ask now for this week’s Book of Questions, let’s see:
——————————————————————————————-
What’s your favorite color?
——————————————————————————————-
My answer: Red

I promise to live today as fully as I possibly can and I wish the same for you
remember, keep it simple, it’s all in the simple things, no one knows any special
secrets to happy living, we learned all the rules in Kindergarten.

much full love

Book of Questions #73…

On July 21, 2008 in Book of Questions

I know, it’s Monday and although I am not mad it’s Monday, I desperately need a few more hours sleep! I am going to try and knock off work early tonight to get a little more rest since I have to be in the studio by 7pm. I did have a great night however so I am not in the least upset about not getting enough sleep. It was one of those nights that felt great. I had some Antonio Carlos Jobim playing in the background, the windows wide open and a breeze visiting every so often. I had no cares on my mind except enjoying the night and that’s what I did. Tomorrow would have it’s own issues and I’ll deal with that in the moring :)

So he we are in the morning and now it’s time to get cracking. This morning I want to ask a pretty open question but one that will definitely give us room to be as open as we would like and feel free to interpret the question however you see fit:
——————————————————————
What’s something that you consider weird about yourself?
——————————————————————
My answer:
Wow, this is a pretty loaded question. Where does one begin, there are so many things. lol! I guess one thing that sticks out in my mind is that I don’t sleep in a bed. I haven’t slept in a bed since I was in Junior High School. For some reason I got used to sleeping on the floor watching tv or staying up late with my sis and never really wanted to go back. Once in a while I will sleep on my couch or futon but for the most part it’s still always the floor. Strange huh? The funny thing is that I don’t even own one! I am fully aware that my future wife will probably want no part of that and I will have to make the transition and I’m cool with that but for the mean time, it’s Crocodile Dundee style for me :)

What about you, what’s something weird about ya?

have a quiet beginning to this week
much strange love

Book of Questions #72…

On July 07, 2008 in Book of Questions

Okay, I know, it’s Monday and after a Holiday weekend we’d all rather be continuing to celebrate rather than work but you know what, at least we’re in it together. Let’s start Monday off with good vibes and an optimistic view towards the week. Now you are either having one of two responses right now to my suggestion. You are either A: in total agreement and give a big hoorah to having a great week! or…. B: with coffee mug in hand and Monday annoyance all around you want to tell me to stick it where the sun don’t shine. lol!
Regardless of your reaction, I hope the day is a good one for ya ;)

Well, at least one thing we can all share and have a good time with is a good old fashioned, get to know each other, question.
This week’s question is:
—————————————————–
What’s the habit you’re proudest of breaking?
—————————————————–

My answer:
I would have to say for me it’s the ugly habit of procrastination. Now although I haven’t kicked it 100%, I don’t know if it’s ever possible to do that, I am proud to see that my pattern of taking care of what I need to do is much more efficient now than it was a few years back. I try not to rate what I have to do anymore by how enjoyable the process is going to be. Even if it’s going to be something annoying or tedious, I try to put it on the list and just take care of it when it’s time to do so. Again, not a perfect score all the time but a major improvement over the years.

What about you, what habit are you happy that is out of your life or close to being so?

have a “fill in the blank” Monday
much love
