A beautiful night indeed…

On June 30, 2008 in Thoughts in the evening...

And just how is your evening going so far? Man has been rather splendid if I do say so. It was an early start for me today. Had a very inspiring night last night. It was one of those very productive “what am I doing with my life and time?” kind of moments. As I drove from my friends house to my folks house out in Long Island, time seemed to move slower than when you’re a kid waiting for Christmas morning or for the school day to end. But the difference in this case was that I was enjoying every minute of it.

What was on my mind you ask? Well, I’ll tell ya. I was thinking about what I have done up to this point in my life, and am I pointing in the right direction for where I want to go in the future? Pretty heavy questions but you know what, I felt great about facing these issues and it was as though I felt a big relief in seeing my reality as though I were observing someone else. I noticed a few things that I didn’t like, some that I did but most importantly, that I still have a huge amount of energy and desire to keep moving and work towards my dreams. There are moments in life where you really feel like you got the wind knocked out of you and May was one of those months. June however was a better month in terms of perspective and not feeling like I was the only one dealing with challenges and struggles. We all go through tough times and the best thing we can do is encourage each other towards living a better life and enjoying the days as they come. I sometimes forget that life is lived in the day after day. You don’t go to the gym and suddenly have the body you always wanted, it happens a little at a time and if you don’t pay attention you wind up missing it. And I don’t want to miss it!

I share this evening with you wholeheartedly and ask you what’s on your mind? C’mon drop some thoughts here, I promise they will not only be heard by me, but by some pretty special people like yourself :)

much love

p.s. If you didn’t notice, there is an “email this to a friend” link below the picture. I am going to be including this on all my posts so that you can share my site with someone that you think might also enjoy it. I thank you in advance for all your support and forgive me that I sometimes have to ‘market’ myself, it’s the only way I will ever be able to be a full time musician, if my fans share my work with others. I’ve never hidden behind that fact that I can’t do this alone, nor would i want to. You are an important part of the realization of my dreams and I am truly honored for that. Thank you again.

Book of Questions #71…

On June 30, 2008 in Book of Questions

Buen dia a todos. Yesiree bob, it is Lunes indeed. I have woken up extra early today. I wanted to catch the sunrise this morning but I was a few minutes too late unfortunately but I am enjoying the benefit of a quiet Brooklyn and utter and complete silence, it’s wonderful. With the extra time, I thought I’d get a head start with the question of the day and then go out for a walk to enjoy the rising son. The temperature is a sweet 84 degrees and this is the type of morning that I would love to be living on the beach. I’ve never asked you guys, do any of you live on the beach? I’m just curious and of course a little jealous to those that do :)

So here it is, this week’s question:
——————————————–
What was your worst job?
——————————————–

My answer:
My worst job had to have been working in a lawyer’s office while I was in high school. My sis was working there and put the word in for me. I needed some extra side money and she told me the job was easy. Granted the job was simple enough, filing and things like that but it was my first taste of office life and it was at the moment that I knew I would never survive in an office environment, it just wasn’t me. In retrospect, maybe worst job is not the proper title since it taught me something about myself I would never forget. lol! I had one other office job through college but I can’t complain about that one since the hours were flexible and it worked perfectly with my course load.
The bottom line is corporate America is not for me :)

What about you, what was your worst job experience? Can’t wait to read your answers.

hope you’re having a beautiful morning

A humid NYC evening(with your smiles pics :)…

On June 29, 2008 in Thoughts in the evening...

Good humid evening to you all. Boy is it a muggy day here in NYC today. We had quite a thunderstorm in the afternoon but it didn’t quite do the trick in terms of cooling the day down as much as we’d hoped. Nevertheless, it’s been a good day. I am at my folks house in Long Island this evening and it’s been a quiet night so far.

I got my niece and nephew to say hello to all of you on video so I will be sharing that in tomorrow’s video post. I am going to be taking Sunday’s off from posting videos since it takes a while to edit and I need my R&R, lol! I have however posted all of your smile pics and they were awesome. As always, I want to thank everyone that sent pics in and I am glad that you’re willing to share in these little moments together. It’s a fun time and I am glad we can do this. Check out the pics at my photos&videos site: www.rhenphotos.com

Have a gorgeous night and I will see you in the morning.
much love & smiles :)

Next Video Blog Installment…

Hey guys, just wanted to post the latest video blog posting.

Remember, you can also watch all the episodes on rhenphotos.com

The thunder is rolling…

On June 28, 2008 in Thoughts in the evening...

Yes, you heard right, lightning is flashing and thunder is a crackin’! I love a good thunderstorm and this one looks like it’s going to be a doozy. It came at a perfect time since it’s been the most humid of days here in NYC today. My friend’s wedding went great and we had a great time. It was a small ceremony but they were happy and I was glad to be a part of their special day.

I just returned and I am stuffed like a turkey. Luckily I didn’t eat too too much but I still feel like a nap is in order. The rain is finally coming down outside and it coming down hard. The sky has completely darkened and you could even see the wind patterns forming shapes in the rain as it brushes across the surface of the road. It’s absolutely beautiful and I couldn’t ask for a better evening. These are the summer evenings that whole chapters are dedicated to in novels. Wow, I love it. I can feel the air being chilled and brought in by the fan. The storm has gotten completely out of hand and I’ve included some footage in the video blog for today so you can see it. I have to repost tonight for the video since I’m finishing the editing.

Hope you are having a beautiful evening and if you’re doing anything fun, be sure to let me know.

Billy was grounded for 2 years after this…

On June 28, 2008 in Daily Musing

Billy was never seen again after this little ‘practical joke’. lol! See, this just proves that simplicity is the key to a great laugh. A bucket of water, an unsuspecting victim. That’s it, mischief in it’s simplest form.

Good morning beautiful people. It’s a quiet one here this morning. Well, it actually got quiet, it didn’t start out that way. I went to move my car earlier and it seemed like every street cleaning car and garbage truck was getting together for a little soiree. A symphony of diesel engines if you will. Not the type of symphonic composistion I personally like to hear in the morning but since there was nothing I could do about it, I tried to enjoy it and look forward to the silence that would surely follow.

So here I am, with the fan blowing wind in my face, my coffee table providing a perfecytresting place for my legs and some incense filling the room. A good morning for sure and I’m feeling inspired, energetic and with an overwhelming sense of being able to accomplish great things today. SHould be a good day to snap my smiling pic. How is your morning going so far? Hectic or quiet? If you’re a parent, then don’t even bother anwering that question. lol!

here’s to a lovely Saturday filled with something new

Is “The Godfather” in your top 10?…

On June 27, 2008 in Thoughts in the evening...

The evening approaches on this last Friday in June and it looks like it’s going to be another beautiful summer night. I finally finished watching “The Godfather” last night and like I had stated earlier, although I enjoyed it and can see why it has become such a classic, it still didn’t make my Top 10 movies of all time. So I must ask all of you, does “The Godfather” make your top 10 list? I am curious to find out what you have to say about it.

Right off the top I have to say that I am not a huge fan of mob movies and although I enjoyed Goodfellas as well, it is definitely not my favorite genre of movies. I have some friends that swear by these types of movies and of course, “The Sopranos” as well. Yikes, it’s like a religion to some people that show! Never got into it. Guess it was enough to have it around me growing up. lol!

I also want to congratulate Tara on winning the Caption of the Week!! Congrats Tara.

Don’t forget to keep sending in the smile pics in. The ones that I’ve got so far are great but there’s always room for more. C’mon, don’t be afraid to show off that sweet mug of yours ;) Send the pics to rhenmusic@gmail.com

have a fun night as usual and do something different and exciting tonight

Add Your Caption Friday…

On June 27, 2008 in Add your caption Friday

Buon giorno a tutti! I am moving slow this morning. I actually got to sleep quite early last night but you know sometimes if you sleep too much you wind up feeling a bit more lethargic. That’s exactly where I am right now but I am going to shake it off and get this day cookin’ :)

It’s Friday and that only means one thing, the weekend is here and it’s time for a summer weekend that will rock the house. I myself have rehearsal tonight for a wedding that I have to play at tomorrow. A couple from church are getting married and my friends wife Shye is singing and I am playing guitar. The wedding is on Saturday and should be fun. I’ve always enjoyed attending weddings. I find it fascinating the idea that we invite a large group of people to share with us certain events like weddings & birthdays. I like it, it’s an aspect of the human tradition that I enjoy and I am honored that they have invited me to share this day with them.

What about you, what are you up to this weekend?

And now, the Add Your Caption Friday pic. I really thought this pic was adorable and was worth sharing the caption with everyone. So let’s cracking and let’s see what you got!

have a gorgeous day my friends

And the clock strikes midnight…

On June 26, 2008 in Thoughts in the evening...

Yes, would I own a grandfather clock, it would be chiming just about now. But seeing that I don’t, I must imagine the chiming inside my noggin’ lol!

It’s an absolutely stunning night here in NYC tonight and I had a very good day. I want to stay up for a few hours and get some more stuff done but I fear that the sheep of sleepdom are calling me to come hang out in the field and I must oblige. It’s funny because I always find myself wishing that there were more hours in a day to get more stuff done but the truth is that no matter how many hours were in a day, we would find a way to fill it up anyway so I will play by the 24 hour rules(as if I had a choice) and do my best to make the most of them.

How was your day?

The street have quieted down and even cars seemed to have lowered in numbers to just a few every so often. It was a humid and muggy day today here so it seems to have slowed everyone down a bit. You move, you sweat and so it seems that most folk decided to keep movement down to a minimum. I don’t blame them. I sit in my apartment finishing The Godfather and so far I must say that I am enjoying it and can see why it was such a classic. Tomorrow night I want to run a poll on the blog to see what you all thought of the movie.

So I sign off for now and got to nod off whilst watching the movie but I will see you all in the morning.
I have been loving the smiling and laughing pics you all have been sending in. If you haven’t sent one in yet, and it’s because you think you’ll look silly, just remember that everyone who ever laughed with you has seen that face already so why not give us a chance to see it? C’mon, you’ll be glad you did, promise :)

much love

Buddy, I think you left your right blinker on…

On June 26, 2008 in Daily Musing

I am actually speechless on this one! That is a very bad day. Even more funny is thinking about the reaction of the gas station attendant. He probably couldn’t even understand what the heck happened. lol! Too funny.

It’s a cloudy morning here in NYC but the temperature is perfect. I had originally woken up extremely early and went for a walk but then hopped right back into bed and slept a few more hours. The sun wasn’t even up yet and although the peace and quiet was welcome I just had to snooze it a bit more :)

We had a good rehearsal with Mike yesterday. Just trying to flesh out some new tunes. I need to hear some other instruments to get a better feel for where the song is going, where to add breaks, transitions and all that fun stuff. We got a lot done and there’s about three new songs in the making which I am excited about. Then we got some food and chilled out to watch The Godfather. He makes fun of me all the time because I have never seen the whole thing so I promised him that I would watch it and tell him what I thought. Of course I didn’t make it all the way through this time either but I’ll finish it up tonight so I can give him my thoughts on it.

Well, have yourself a gorgeous morning and I will see you tonight for some more conversation.
much love
