If you could be anywhere in the world for New Years, where would you be?…

On December 31, 2008 in Daily Musing

It’s New Years Eve and the countdown has already begun. As for my plans tonight, I have opted to host my own dinner and invite some friends over. I haven’t hosted a meal in my house for way too long and I thought this would be the perfect occasion to rekindle the old hosting flames. The neat thing is that my violinist, Mireya is playing tonight at some club in Brooklyn with some friends so we’ll probably join here in the wee hours of the morning to catch some music and share some moments together. Then of course is the New Years breakfast which is my favorite. Usually by the break of dawn you’re quite delirious so it always makes for great conversation. lol!

So I do want to wish everyone a beautiful night and for those that have already crossed into the new year already I also hope you had a great time. I also wanted to take a moment and personally thank everyone for being so unbelivably loving and supportive this past year, not only with my musical career but also with the sharing of your life and the kind words and love that you’ve shown me in my difficult times. The world wants to tell us that it’s not safe to share of yourself in these modern days and only pain awaits around the corner, but I boldly proclaim the opposite to be true. I have had the privilege of getting to know some of the most beautiful people I have every met and I owe it all to taking the step of sharing my life with all of you. Thank you for proving that love is alive and well and there is still much beauty in this world :)

Tonight’s question is one of fun and not meant to replace family time or friendship time, just a curious question to have some fun: Assuming you could take anyone you wanted with you, if you could be anywhere in the world for New Years, where would you be? I would choose any beach on the coast of Italy. I want to ring in the new year swimming, under the stars and laughing with those I love.

have a spectacular night my friends and I’ll see you tomorrow for the beginning of another year’s journey

Remember, don’t drink and sail tonight!…

On December 31, 2008 in Daily Musing

4 Vodka Tonics, the rocking of the sea…not a good combo! lol!

Good New Year’s morning to everyone! Hope you are excited not only about tonight, but more so, about the upcoming year. I am feeling good going to into the new year and am looking forward to seeing what surprises it has in store.

I know the new year always conjures up mixed emotions ranging from euphoria to sadness but I have decided that it doesn’t have to be that way. It has definitely been a challenging 2008 but if it is in fact true that we learn from the difficult times in life then it’s no use complaining about them since they are supposedly so valuable, right? Well, at least I tell myself that to feel better. lol! Seriously though, it has been an intense year but then again, that’s what life is, a mix between smooth sailing, rough sailing, fun sailing and at times fearful sailing but we get through it the best we can and enjoy the moments as they come. We’re all sailing the seas of life together ;)

much love

If you could speak one other language fluently, what would it be?…

On December 30, 2008 in Thoughts in the evening...

Buenas noches a todos. It’s been a beautifully busy day today here at work and it’s just about over. I say beautifully busy because everything flowed as smooth as can be and since that doesn’t typically happen in a work day, I must recognize when it does :)

I have asked this question many times and I always enjoy hearing people’s responses:  If you could speak one other language fluently, what would it be? I would choose Italian. Although I speak it quite a bit, I am definitely not fluent by any means and would love to have it as another fluent language in my repetoir. And a close second would be Japanese. I had started to study it a bit but never stayhed consistant.

have a wonderfully fluent night

In NYC, we even tell you when the paint dries!…

On December 30, 2008 in Daily Musing

Everyone is on a tight schedule, we understand that. Who has time to check if the paint’s wet? Exactly. So, in classic NYC style, we tell you what you need to know so you can get on with your day. Efficiency is the name of the game. lol!

I want to thank Brian for sending in that pic and giving us a good laugh this morning.

We are just one day away from New Year’s Eve and I am feeling good. As slow as business has been last week, this week is surprisingly busy so I am going to get to it and let you also get started with your day.

Have an amzing morning and I’ll see you all tonight
much watch the paint! love

What are you looking forward to in 2009?…

On December 29, 2008 in Thoughts in the evening...

Good evening? Nay, great evening. It is in fact a fantastic evening. I must admit that nothing out of the ordinary happened to merit such enthusiasm yet I feel very inspired, alive and peaceful right now, therefore it is a great evening.

I got together a little video from the BAM show on Saturday night for you. I hope you enjoy a little behind the scenes and a few stolen stage moments from a very special evening which I wish all of you could have been present for. It was a packed house and a night that will live with me for a long time. Certain days in your life stand as markers which you look back to later on and this day will surely be one of them. Note: it takes a few minutes to process so if it’s not playing, give it a moment.

So tonight’s question stays with the New Years theme: What are you looking forward to in 2009? First and foremost, I am looking forward to some nice surprises but as for specifically what I’m looking forward to, I would have to say it’s time. Let me explain. Come January 1st, I officially become a full-time musician. I have decided to give over every last amount of energy and minute to my musical endeavors and I couldn’t be more excited. Working a full time day job and then doing music at night takes it’s toll and you never really have enough time to do what you need to do so I figured what better time to do it then now! So off I go to live this adventure and I can’t wait to see what awaits on this new road…..

have a superb evening and live it up, dare to live passionately, you will never regret it :)

This ain’t your ordinary Amish ride!….

On December 29, 2008 in Daily Musing

Now that’s kickin’ it up a few notches. lol!

Good Monday morning to all. What a weekend! I had a blast. Last night’s birthday party was fun. My violonist had all her musician friends get together at a club and play some music. They are an amazing group of latin players and it was fun to get some dancing in before the start of the week.

I will try to edit some video footage to share tonight.
much love

What are your plans for New Year’s?…

On December 28, 2008 in Daily Musing

Hidee ho everybody! I hope your Sunday evening has gotten off to a good start. My Sunday has been really good so far and I suspect it’s only going to get better. I had a very big Mexican lunch and then needed to come home just to recover. lol! We went with my friend to the same place where the waitress had made us the flan and we had a great time. Ate a bit too much, but had a great time. I am off tonight to go celebrate my violinist’s birthday in the city and I will definitely snap some video and pics to share with you of that.

I posted a pic below of a painting I recieved from a friend, Meredith yesterday and I just wanted to publicly thank her for it. My father and grandfather were painters so I really enjoy seeing people’s artwork and I was honored when she presented me this painting after the show. Thank you again and for coming out with Rachel to enjoy the show. I really enjoy getting to meet a lot of you in person, it’s always about having a real connection and I thank you all for being special that way :)

So tonight’s question is probably a question you’ve either been asked a million times in the last week or you yourself have been asking: What are your plans for New Year’s?
I am in between 3 choices as of yet. The first is to host a dinner here in my house with a few friends, enjoy some food, some dancing and some good laughs. The other is to go to the 5krun that they have in Central Park each year and then after that head back downtown to a club where my violinist Mireya is playing and chill with her and her band. And the final choice is to party hop 2 or 3 different events and choose one for the midnight ring. Those are the possible plans available right now. What about you, what’s the New Year’s plan?

have a wonderful night my friends and make the effort to remember something from today
much countdown love

Peaceful Swan Sunday…

On December 28, 2008 in Peaceful Sunday

Good morning sweet friends. What is there to say about an absolutely spectacular night? I don’t say this often but I must say it now…..if you weren’t there last night, you missed one heck of a fun night! I am sorry to have to break to you like that but in all seriousness, it was an awesome night and one that I will never forget.

They didn’t let is film or take pics in the venue unfortunately but we did sneak in some backstage footage and we have a few pics we were able to snap here and there. Before anything else I do want to publicly thank Mabili for booking the night and also the staff at BAM, Rebecca, Desmond, Erica and Rich who were the easiest and nicest people to work with.

I was doubly excited because I had heard that Rhen was on the huge electronic billboard outside the venue all week and I thought it was just my name up there but oh no, as we drove up to the venue, bam! there it was, a big Rhen pic and I couldn’t believe it. This was going to be a good night for sure! Step by step, the dream unfolds and you are all not only accompanying me on this journey but such a key part in making it happen and I thank you for that. The place was packed and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the band and meeting new fans and friends. In the world of music and being an artist, it doesn’t get much better than a night like last night :)

I will get a little video of the night’s happenings ready for ya and post that up tomorrow.
This morning I am sharing a beautiful piece called the Swan by Camille Saint-Seans performed by the virtuoso Yo-Yo Ma. It’s wonderful piece and the perfect way to start this Sunday.

have a beautiful morning and I’ll see ya tonight

I think they need a better name for this perfume!…

On December 27, 2008 in Daily Musing

No wonder it’s 50% OFF, that is the worst name for a fragrance ever. lol!!! They really need to rethink their marketing strategies.

Good morning folks. I am super excited about tonight’s show at the BAM Cafe here in Brooklyn. We had a great rehearsal with the band last night and worked on some of the smaller details of the show. We ended kind of late and I am a bit tired but the excitement more than overides any feelings of exhaustion. I am taking it easy this morning and making sure I relax and have plenty of energy for tonight.

Have a great morning and I will most likely not see you all tonight because I will be in sound check during my regular blogging time but I will most definitely see you in the morning to share some stories of the show and a share nice peaceful piece of music to start the day off.

much rock n’ roll love

What do people typically ask you for help in?…

On December 26, 2008 in Thoughts in the evening...

Is it Friday already? That is sweet indeed. Another very quiet day here at the office but it is expected this time of year so it’s nothing to worry about. This is the time of the year that you go after everyone that still has an outstanding invoice, so it’s busy but only with phone calls and minor threats. lol! I am totally kidding by the way, well sort of ;)

We have one last rehearsal with the band tonight and it should be fun. We’re going to run the set a couple of times and work on some smaller details and then go have a late dinner together. I am fortunate that I am also great friends with everyone in the band. I find it heard to play music with someone that I don’t get along with so I’ve made it a point to look for musicians that I also enjoyed being with when the music was over. They’re a good bunch and it’s a fun time.

So tonight, I ask you: What do people typically ask you for help in? For me it’s usually either for something relating to music or for some type of graphic design question. That’s cool, I like being associated with those things. What I don’t get asked for help in is Calculus, French baking techniques and Nascar statistics in case you were wondering. lol!

have a divine night my friends and I’ll catch up with you in the morn…
