What are your biggest pet peeves?….

On February 28, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...

The time is 6:24pm and the night has quietly settled in and slowly nudged the day away until it will meet us again tomorrow. I enjoy the night time very much. Over the years I have come to appreciate mornings as well but for me, the night time has a particular feeling that is so full of life and so full of possibilities that I remember enjoying even as a little kid. Growing up, as a family, we were a ’stay up late’ family. Dinner was at 8 or 9, not at 6, and bedtime which there never really was a set time, was around 11pm or midnight. Of course, come the morning, you had to get your butt up for school so you paid the price but we never had a sense of the night time being any different with rules than the morning. And so it is till this day. I love the mornings now because they have their own charm: it’s the start of a new day, the sound of the birds and the rising of the sun but the dark sky, glowing moon and excitement of the night will forever be my favorite time of the day :)

Okay, I think I went on way too long about the night there. lol! Well, at least you know now what I think about it.
So tonight’s question is one I asked over two years ago but I felt it was well worth bringing up again:
————————————————-
What are your biggest pet peeves?
————————————————-
I’ll make a small list of mine:
1. Consistently negative or dramatic people.
2. Honkers in traffic
3. Cell Phone company customer service(nice to get your business, not so nice once they have you)
4. When you hold the door for someone and they don’t thank you.
5. Receiving email forwards with no personal message.

Very interested in reading everyone else’s list. Remember, I’ve said this before, these lists can be used for good or evil so be kind to your fellow pet-peevers :)

have an incredible night and I will do the same
much love

I didn’t know 2 cars could fit in a toll lane!….

On February 28, 2009 in Daily Musing

Oh that’s right, they can’t. lol! This is obviously the result of some bad toad rage. Not that there is any form of good road rage but this is ridiculous!

Good afternoon to everyone. I know it’s a tardy start to the blog today but it’s been quite a busy morning and I am only now getting to my laptop. The show went great and it was a very successul evening for the organization and we were happy to be a part of such a special night. The sound system left much to be desired but as a musician, you learn to expect and deal with anything. It was unfortunate because good sound makes for a much better show but again, we were just happy to be a part of the event and we were glad to see that they raised moeny for such a good cause. Thank you a million times to everyone that came out and made the night so special :)

Have a great afternoon and I will see you tonight
much road rage love

“Too many McTini’s” by BJ

On February 27, 2009 in Add your caption Friday

Friday has rolled around yet again and it was kind of a sneak attack for me as this week felt like it flew by. Irregardless, I am happy the weekend is here as I am looking forward to getting a lot of things ready for the upcoming tour. The departure date is closing in fast and alongside excitement, me head is constantly making lists of things to take care of. I’m a worrier, yes it’s true, but that is changing, I promise! lol!

So I want to congratulate Larni on winning last week’s caption contest with her caption: “I swear ladies, this is part of the routine performaaaance!!!” Congrats Larni! Here is another ridiculous picture that is desperate for some whitty caption to be attached to it.

I have been receiving so many beautiful ‘friends’ pictures from so many of you. They look amazing and honestly make me smile when I see them. There’s a happiness that can’t be denied or hidden when spending time with people that you care about and that’s what I’ve been seeing in these pictures. If you haven’t sent a pic in yet, I beg(yes I’m begging, that’s how cool I think this will be!) to send one in. Send in a pic of you and your friends and make sure you’re in the same picture with them. We want to see friendships up close and personal. Send the pics to me email at: rhenmusic@gmail.com

have a wonderful morning

What size is your bed?….

On February 26, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...

Weekend is just about here and I, for one, am happy about that fact. Tomorrow night is our fundraiser show for CRY.org and it should definitely be a great night for a great cause. If you want more information on that, click here. I promise you a good time and a great opportunity to help in a big way. Hope to see a lot of you there :)

We are in the middle of rehearsal and while the guys are taking a bit of a break, I thought I’d sneak off and day hi to everyone and see what you were all doing with your night. Rehearsal is going well and we are just about done which is good because I like to get plenty of rest before a show and I am also excited because I am being interviewed for a newspaper article in the morning!

So before I head back to rehearsal, I wanted to ask a fun question:
—————————-
What size is your bed?
—————————-
Now most of you know that I actually don’t sleep on a bed but the fun fact of the day is that I do have a guest bedroom in my apartment and that bed is a twin. The room is not that big so I went for the twin size to not take up most of the room. lol!

have a wonderful night sweet friends and I’ll see ya in the morning

Marriage t-shirts finally hit the market!…

On February 26, 2009 in Daily Musing

I definitely got a smile out of this one this morning, hope you did too :)

Good snowy morning to all. Yes, I said snowy! I was just driving around for a bit and snowflakes were falling right onto my windshield. All I can say to the snow is, “enjoy your last few days buddy, because you’re going down!” Yes, I am quite the angry and aggressive person when it comes to the cold weather and snow but other than that, I am pretty gentle ;)

I wanted to publicly thank everyone for their love, prayers and support for my friend Shay Hawkins. As always, I am pleasantly reminded that this world is full of unbelievably loving people who look out for their fellow man. Thank you again.

have a beautiful day and I’ll see you all tonight
much love

A special prayer for my good friend Shay Hawkins….

On February 25, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...

This is a difficult post to write about and I don’t even know where to begin. Shay Hawkins is a drummer that I had the privilege to play with for many years. In fact, he is the drummer that’s recorded on my first album Runaround. We grew close over the years and I owe him the gratefulness of having introduced me to my present violinist, Mireya Ramos. I could go on and on talking about what a great guy he is and how grateful I am to know him.

The reason I call for a night of prayer for my friend is because I was recently informed that he was in a very bad car accident a few weeks ago. His family lives in Cleveland and he would travel frequently between there are NYC and on one of his trips back, he apparently hit a patch of ice on the highway and crashed off to the side of the road. The damage to his body is extensive and although he is recovering better and better each day he is still only mobile from the chest up. He is talking and from what I’m told he is also writing emails and will soon be able to leave the hospital and enter full-time care at home with his sister and continue out-patient therapy.

His family has set up a website so that those that wish to leave him a message can do so and also read of any updates on his condition. If you did know him or just wish to offer up a word of encouragement or prayer, here is the link to his website: Shay Hawkins Website.

To him and his family, I just want to say that I’m praying for you and we love you.

The coolest school ever!…

On February 25, 2009 in Daily Musing

Could you imagine having a slide in school going from floor to floor? That would have been amazing. This is progressive thinking at it’s finest. lol!

Good morning to all. It’s been an excellent start to this day so far. There’s a lot going on and a lot to take care of today so I am looking forward to getting what needs to get done, done. I have been receiving lots of messages lately from many of you telling me that you’ve been sharing Rhen music and my blog with other friends. I can’t tell you first of all how happy that makes me and how flattered I am but also on a practical level, how important and how much that helps in getting the word out there. So many indie bands have made it solely on the fuel and enthusiasm of it’s loyal friends/fans and I know Rhen can do the same. We are close to something big and there’s no way I can do it without you.

We have designed an EPK(electronic press kit) and put the link on the navbar of Rhenworld.com If you call or email a radio station to request us(which would be awesome!), or if you email an internet radio station, you can always link them to that EPK if they’ve never heard of us. And truth be told, they probably haven’t………..yet! 2009 is the year for big things and I’m excited about that.

One last thing and I promise I’ll wish you a good day and let you get on with your day. If anyone wants to help out even more in helping Rhen move up to that next level, please let me know and I’d be thrilled to let you know what we need help in. This always was and is a team effort, nothing gets accomplished alone and I’ve always known this. Thank you as always for all the love, support and friendship that you show me on a daily basis, it keeps me going more than you know :)

have a wonderful morning and I will do the same

Do you sing in the car?…

On February 24, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...

The setting sun drapes it’s last rays through the west window and I begin to prepare for the evening’s activities. We have a quick rehearsal tonight and then there’s a lot of phone calls to make in preparation for the upcoming trip to Italy and what has now expanded to Spain. I have received information regarding a possible gig in London but I am still awaiting confirmation on that. Let’s hope for the best, that would be way cool :)

I am running low on time so I will go straight into tonight’s question:
————————————-
Do you sing in the car?
————————————-
I don’t think I have to answer this but I will anyway for the sheer silliness of my reality. I scream like a fool when i am in the car and it’s so much fun. If someone else is in the car with me, they get the tame version of my singing follies, but once I am alone, I let loose and act like I have a stadium of people in front me. One day….one day, I’m just getting prepared ;)

have a wonderful night and Mike says hi and hopes to meet a few of you at our show on Friday.
much singin’ like a fool love

After the divorce, Ronald was found living in the park…

On February 24, 2009 in Daily Musing

People always see the painted smile on his face and just assume he’s in a great mood but behind the mask is a hurt man. lol!

I couldn’t even remember what day it was for a second. I was about to write good Monday morning. Well, in my defense, I am still 10% in sleepy land so my systems are not yet in full functioning order :)

Had a beautiful night and I really enjoyed listening to the wind howl. I can still hear it now, slipping through cracks and whistling through trees, it’s absolutely hypnotic. I’ve always been fascinated by the fact that we cannot see the actual wind itself but only the effect it has on things. In danger of sounding a bit corny, which I don’t really mind, love seems to function the same way. It cannot not physically be seen with our eyes, yet it’s effects are as clear as day and can change even the most savage of men. Pretty powerful stuff.

Okay that’s enough deep thinking for this still half asleep man. lol!
Have an incredible day and I will do the same. We have rehearsal tonight but I will try to slip in and say hi before we start.

much love

What do you drink with dinner?…

On February 23, 2009 in Daily Musing

The air is cold, the wind has quieted down and the evening begins to settle in. The radio plays Tchaikovsky drowning out any sounds I could possibly hear from the street. On my desk lay an open file, some random papers, an empty plate from a late lunch and a Coca-Cola stained glass lamp. The mood is peaceful and I although I have a lot on my mind, I am grateful for a productive day. It never quite seems to be a full enough day but I know that life has a way of always making us desire just a little bit more.

So tonight’s question is a very practical one, nothing fancy:
———————————
What do you drink with dinner?

———————————
At home, I usually drink water but if I’m out, each and every time I order a Coke and if they have it, I get a Cherry Coke. I wish it was something fancy like a glass of red wine or something like that but nope, just a nice cold, glass of Coke for me :)

Have a wonderful evening my friends
much what’ll it be? love
