What’s one of your favorite movies?…
On November 16, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...
It’s a quiet Monday night here in NYC. The air is chilled but not quite cold, making for a most relaxing evening.
It has been a very productive day in terms of getting stuff done and the best part is that I feel completely at ease. I tend to get worked up when I have a lot of things to do but today has been a most smooth day and one that started off well and remained such as the hours melted away. Not too shabby….not too shabby at all
As I returned from my trip to Mexico last night to find a pile of DVD’s my sister returned, it dawned on me to ask one of the most simple, yet common questions to our modern day city society:
—————————————————–
What’s one of your favorite movies?
—————————————————–
My answer:
I specifically asked for just one of your favorite’s since I know it’s practically impossible to limit it to just one favorite movie. For me, it would have to be Amadeus. I have plenty of others that make my favorite’s list but Amadeus ranks among the highest on the list. It is a wonderful movie and one that I fell in love with when I was first starting out playing music so it touched me in a very special way.A few othe’s that make the list are: The Notebook, Cinema Paradiso & Dead Poet’s Society. I’ll stop there because the list is going to just grow bigger and bigger.
Can’t wait to read your answers and I hope everyone is having the most amazing evening
much cinematic love

Hey Adrian. havent seen The Notebook, heard how wonderful it is, must get it out sometime.
My favourite would have to be Bridget Jones Diary. I think all of us women have gone through a Bridget moment or two at some point in our lives, whether or not we care to admit to it. I love the simplicity of it, and the humour. I LOVE a good laugh when watching movies. Love actually is another great film. Two Aussie films always rate for me too..The Castle and Muriels Wedding. I just recently saw ‘The Imaginarium of Dr Pernasis’ at the cinema too, and I just LOVEd the darkness of that film, as well as the amazing visuals. I highly recommend it for a viewing if you like something a bit different.
Welcome back my friend. Good to have you back safe and sound. Movies, more than one okay? Lol. Here goes..THE NOTEBOOK (sigh), WATER by Deepa Metha, MONSOON WEDDING, and KAMA SUTRA A LOVE STORY both by Mira Nair,THE KITE RUNNER (magnificent!), THE NAMESAKE, hey I plan on visiting all of India one day. So mysterious and beautiful. CINEMA PARADISO (you talked about it so much that I decided to finally see it-lol) a brilliant film indeed. Why deny the world a million kisses? So the list goes on and on. RACHEL, MEREDITH, JUNE.. I enjoyed the previous blog. THE CONVO WAS DEEP! Had me thinking at five in the morning. And on a MONDAY to say the least! lol. I cannot wait for the day to give you guys HUGS! ALL MY LOVE ALWAYS..Laarni.
Amadeus is certainly one of my favorites as well
Mozart…Fine Arts Heaven

I will be avoiding the internet, ipods, and other high tech previlages for as long as I can tolerate. I am trying to get back to the basics. While in the middle of composing a handwritten letter to my daughter’s teacher the other day, I had the sudden urge to write L O L. In a handwritten letter!! It will be hard not checking emails, Myspace, Facebook and Youtube accounts. Let alone ipods and other gadgets. Dust off my old record player, purchase some vynil at my local vintage shop and fascinate the heck out of my kids. LOL! ha! Pretty soon I will be churning my own butter. OY! HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY-NOON-NIGHT MY PRECIOUS DARLINGS. Adios…laarni.
..just found the time to answer to this blog.. The favorite movie? Do I really have to make a choice?? Oh come on!! I love the movie “Chocolat” with Juliette Binoche.. or “Harold and Maude” - I guess I saw that one a hundred times.
And what about “Princess Bride” and “Labyrinth” (David Bowie is hilarious).. There are some German Movies I love - but I guess nobody knows them here anyway - so I won’t list them..
I really loved “Dead Poet’s Society” and “Breakfast Club”.. “Fame” was a good one also..
But my alltime favorite will always be: “It’s a wonderful life” with James Stewart. I have to watch it every time when it’s on tv even though I have it on DVD.
@ Debbi - are you talking about the movie “A tale of two cities” ?? I googled it - but I have never watched it… Maybe I should - now that I read about it…
Have a good day everyone,
Sabine
