What’s one of the best books you’ve ever read?…
On November 05, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...
Good Starbucks evening to everyone. I am not one to frequent Starbucks very often but I needed to get out of the house but still wanted to get some work done so this was as good a place as any to be at peace and be able to work a bit.
I ordered my usual which is the Caramel Macchiato and yes I even got a raspberry cake thingamajiggy. Don’t know exactly what it is but I do know that it’s very delicious and that’s all that really matters.
It’s been an interesting week and I am excited because the website is finally coming together. Just to keep everyone informed, the reason it’s been taking so long is because we are completely renovating that site not only in design but also in functionality. We wanted the new site to be completely interactive allowing all of you to leave your personal imprint and mark. This was extremely important to me since I value tremendously what all of you have to say. I have never thought of it as just sharing music but more of sharing life, thoughts and the lessons we go learning. I’ll say it again and again, if all you have at the end of the day are a series of goals met and no real growth or relationships to mark those accomplishments, then in my opinion you don’t have much.
So in light of reading so many books lately, I ask you a related question tonight:
——————————————————–
What’s one of the best books you’re ever read?
——————————————————–
My answer:
The past few weeks has been a time of enjoying quiet times with good books and a pen in hand to underline those phrases and lessons that stood out as I read. One of those books that I enjoyed so much was ‘Shattered Dreams.’ Although the title sounds a little bit strange it’s a wonderful book that talks about what God teaches us when things don’t come out exactly as we planned. A lot of times our frustration is directly connected to unmet goals, aspirations and plans. The neat thing is that we are not subject to feeling bad about these times but instead to reflect that maybe there is something better that awaits or that we had a specific lesson to learn from the experience of trying. Sometimes we just need to see that we have the passion to do something even if that ’something’ doesn’t come to fruition.
I can’t wait to hear what books have been on your minds and in your lives. I’ll order another round of coffees and we can discuss our favorite parts.

Now that’s a rebel!…
On November 05, 2009 in Daily Musing
I like those who play with the rules a little bit. lol!
Good Thursday almost afternoon to all. The day has not yet decided whether to be a cloudy or sunny day here in NYC. Regardless of what the weather chooses to be, the good thing is that it’s a fine Thursday and there’s a lot to be grateful for. Last night as I was having some pizza, yes pizza and it was darn good, I couldn’t but help to remember how fortunate we are to be able to eat every day and have a roof over our heads when so many don’t have that privilege. It’s so easy to forget that what would deem as commonplace and ‘normal’ is truly a gift and blessing.
I find that being aware of these things on a daily basis helps put our ‘problems’ into perspective and reminds us that there are probably more things right in our lives than we even know. So I propose a day of appreciation and while we are at it, not just a day, but hopefully what will turn into a habit of appreciation. They say that anything done consistently for 21 days becomes a habit so why not make it a good habit of appreciation.
have a most beautiful day today and I hoep you get to laugh, make someone else laugh and savor and taste all those perhaps overlooked blessings in your life

What did you want to be when you were a little kid?…
On November 02, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...
It’s funny because I always see the beginning of the week as Monday instead of Sunday. Technically I know Sunday is considered the first day of the week, but I always felt it is as the end of the week rather than the beginning. Don’t know if I’m alone on that one but in case I’m a little strange for thinking that, I won’t open the door on asking
Hope everyone is having a great night so far. It’s been a quiet day here in NYC and although it was quite cloudy, the rain never came.
I ask this question tonight because the theme of enjoying life’s simple pleasure like when we were kids keeps coming back so I though this to be perfectly appropriate and fun to ask.
———————————————————–
What did you want to be when you were a little kid?
———————————————————–
My answer:
I wasn’t the astronaut type of kid or even the doctor but one thing I do remember wanting to be was a soccer player. I grew up playing with my dad and could always picture myself playing on the field every time we watched a game together. I still loving playing and the few times we spent some time in Argentina, I tried to join the local leagues to get better at the game but my skill wasn’t exactly what it needed to be so I resolved to just enjoy the game at the local parks. And then I thought maybe becoming an astronaut might not be so bad. lol!
have a most magical night and I will do the same. Don’t forget to make it unforgettable.

I think this is going to be her last hockey game…
On November 02, 2009 in Daily Musing
In case you missed her smushed face, it’s the woman on the bottom left. That is not a fun memory to take from a game. lol!!
The morning rolls along smoothly and it appears to be the start of a good week. There’s a chill in the air reminding us Autumn is doing it’s job quite nicely and slowly but surely the final phase of this year is happening. I think an appropriate phrase for today would be. “wow, the year has gone by so fast and I can’t believe it’s November already!” Time is a funny thing and I find that sometimes things that happened only a moment ago seem like they happened years ago and vice versa.
I do know that time stops for nothing and no one and if you don’t make it a point to make days special, they will float by and we will soon forget many of them. I have found that we are not destined to this and it is certainly possible and worth every ounce of effort to do whatever is necessary to make each day count. Clichés become clichés for a reason and making each day count is one that is best not overlooked. There is a huge blessing behind that little phrase but, and this is a big but, the effort must be made to make each day count, even if it’s just being aware of what’s around you. It doesn’t take something extraordinary to make a day extraordinary. Usually it’s in the simplest of things anyway
so here’s to making today count in a big way even if it’s with small things

What traits do you find most important in someone?…
On October 30, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...
Good Friday evening to everyone. Today has been quite a good day. Nothing extraordinary to tell other than it flowed quite nicely from it’s early start up until now. And the hope is that it continues in said fashion
I have been doing so much reading lately that a recurring thought keeps coming back to me and that is precisely tonight’s question. What is it about certain people that we find most admirable or most important. What are those specific characteristics that make them stand out above the rest that make us take note and want to enjoy their presence in our lives? Well, since I can’t guess your answers, I will certainly share my answer and wait expectantly to see what everyone else has to say about the subject.
For me, although I could list a plethora of traits that would sound perfectly fine, I have given this some serious thought over the past few days and have come up with a few key character traits that I find to be admirable in those I look up to or simply enjoy their presence. The small but crucial list is this: 1. Kind 2. Good listener/talker(communicator) 3. Patient 4. Hopeful 5. Passionate(about anything) 6. Giving
Now this far from an exhaustive list but definitely among the top of what I see in those people that touch me in a special way.
I cannot wait to read everyone’s responses and see what you all think on the subject. I pray you all have a most incredible Friday night and that it is but a precursor to an amazing weekend. Thank you all for being a part of this road of mine and sharing your thoughts, something that seems to be forgotten in this age of running to and fro from here to there
much important love

What was your favorite subject in school?…
On October 29, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...
So the good news is that I finally got the polling software up and running! Luckily there’s no bad news so this isn’t one of those “good news/bad news” type of moments. Just good news tonight. We’ll try out the software tonight and see if we like it and if it works nice and clean, I’ll keep it and use it for future questions.
I thought tonight we would ask a simple question from our childhood or perhaps from present day studies if that’s what you’re up to these days. To be completely honest I never did like school much but if I was forced to choose a favorite subject besides music of course, it would probably have to be Science. I really enjoyed in elementary school doing all those experiments and being hands on. I have always enjoyed hands-on classes as opposed to theoretical courses. What about you, what was your favorite subject in school?
hope you’re having a great night and I aim to do the same, scout’s honor ![]()

I thought cows WERE allowed on cable cars!…
On October 29, 2009 in Daily Musing
I guess I was wrong. lol! I don’t even know where to begin with this pic…omg!
It’s still gray and rainy here in NYC and the wonderful thing is that although it’s been rainy, the temperature has been great and just right for long walks. Last night I walked extensively through the city and enjoyed a wonderful evening. There was barely a light drizzle as I walked through Columbus Circle, Times Square and eventually ended up in Union Square sitting in the square enjoying a good book and having a warm cup of coffee. Not a complicated night by any means, but one that was quite welcome.
I keep returning to this concept of simpleness and it seems to keep shouting out to me from all areas of my life. The overwhelming lesson seems to be to regain and hold on to the simple things of this life. Of course life gets hectic from time to time but that doesn’t mean that we must forget the treasure that lies in the most simple of activities or should I say the ‘privilege’ of such activities. It’s so easy to forget that the mere act of walking, sitting down to have a quick bite or even putting on a warm jacket is in and of itself among the largest of privileges. This is the place I want to reside, where everything we are doing becomes alive again with wonder and appreciation. And it can be done and in my humble opinion, if we are to have a full life, needs to be done.
So I invite you today to make it a day of savoring and soaking in the simple privileges of yor life, of which I know you must have many as well. There will still be problems, yes, I am not denying this, but let’s at least direct some of that attention to a better place. What do you say? Let the adventure begin!

The Queen of rubber duckies!…
On October 27, 2009 in Daily Musing
Now that is one big rubber ducky and I am just happy that someone out there went through the trouble of building one and setting it free into the waters. That is the kind of smile that I want to start my day off with
Good rainy afternoon. It’s been a quiet morning here and most of my business is happening in the afternoon today so the tranquility has been welcome.
I want to apologize for the faulty polling software that I posted yesterday but I did want to thank everyone that posted their answers on my Facebook & Myspace pages. It seems as though there is no correlation between the sexes and whether or not we leave our spoons in our cups of coffees and tea. What I did notice is that although most folks take their spoons out before they take a sip of their java’s, a fair amount, more than I thought in fact, leave the spoon in while they drink. I am definitely guilty of that and wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one.
I promise to have an equally silly yet fun question to get to know one another soon and I promise to find better polling software. I love asking questions, not that it’s a big surprise but it’s a really great way of getting to share all of our little quirks, thoughts and ways of this life and at the end of the day, getting to know good people is the best thing I can think of doing.
p.s. I watched the movie “Up” last night and I completely loved it.

Do you leave the spoon in your coffee/tea when you drink?…
On October 26, 2009 in Thoughts in the evening...
Good quiet evening to everyone. It is a surprisingly warm Autumn night here in NYC and I am enjoying it immensely. I have the privilege of having dinner with my mom tonight and we are about to go enjoy some late night food. We always ate late in our family and got used to that over the years so dinner at 8 or even 9pm has become the norm in my life.
Tonight’s question comes from an observation that most of the men that I know that drink coffee/tea tend to leave the spoon in the coffee cup while they sip on their coffee while the women almost always remove the spoon before they drink. Now I am not opening up a discussion to point out the lack of etiquette that we men are displaying during coffee and tea time, I am merely trying to see if the theory holds true with a larger audience. So let’s find out if there is any observable pattern here. Just a little evening social experiment if you will, and I really hope you will
hope your evening is moving along beautifully and that something stood out today as being special

p.s. The polling software is a little quirky and takes a while to update so don’t worry if your vote doesn’t come up immediately.

Peaceful Trouble Sunday…
On October 25, 2009 in Peaceful Sunday
The sky could not be a cleaner blue canvas this morning and the day has started out just right. Today is one of those lucky days that is wide open to do just about anything. The weather is perfection and I don’t have any appointments to be at until 5 so I have the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon to enjoy what appears to be a beautiful day.
I have been reading a lot lately and I don’t know about you but it had been forever since I had actually finished an entire book. For some reason in the past few years of my life, I would pick up a book, sometimes two and read parts of it, maybe the first few chapters, sometimes even half of it and then I would lose interest and never finish it. It was definitely a pattern that had developed without my even noticing it. Last week I finished two books and now this week I am on my third which makes me very happy. The more I write about reading, the more I realize that this might just be the right day to go outside and enjoy some reading by the water and soak in some rays. The simple pleasures, right?
Here’s a question for this Sunday morning….what are your most treasured simple pleasures in life?
This morning I share with you a song by Coldplay that I really enjoy called Trouble. There was a great remix of this song I heard a few years back but I couldn’t find it so here is the original to enjoy.
have a wondrous day in which you see things in a new light
much trouble-less love
